Planting Pollinator Gardens

Last year Crow Wing Power prepared four substations in Crow Wing County for planting pollinator seeds to create habitat for butterflies and bees.  We’ve historically had grass growing around all of our substations, but decided the substations would provide excellent locations for pollinator perennial plants.  This year we are turning two substations in Morrison County into pollinator gardens with the co-sharing costs of Morrison County Soil and Water Conservation.  In the past few years, we’ve all read about the nearly extinct Minnesota native Rusty Patch bumble bee

Planned Summer PCA Rate Increase Cancelled

The Board of Directors voted at their April 20th meeting to cancel the scheduled summer power cost adjustment (PCA) increase.  The summer PCA, scheduled to increase to 2.0 cents/kWh for electricity used in the months of June, July and August, will continue at the current rate of 1.5 cents/kWh.

The Board decision to eliminate the summer PCA increase is primarily due to revenue exceeding budget projections for the first quarter of 2018.  Electricity sales were higher than anticipated due to the colder weather we experienced.
